This initial teaching qualification has been designed to meet the needs of therapists already teaching classes and workshops and who like the confidence of a formal teaching qualification to support their work. Using a blended learning approach, the course is designed for holistic therapists wishing to deliver workshops and will explore how some healing or therapeutic tools may be used as part of the teaching and learning experience.

You will be learning as a member of a group of holistic therapists; this means that you will learn about a wide range of other therapies and modalities which can be used to enhance the learning experience for you on this course and for your future students.
* Accredited by Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM), your guarantee of educational standards. Level 3 is equivalent to A level standard.
Students should normally have at least a Level 3 (i.e. A-Level/BTEC equivalent) qualification in the subject they wish to teach. However, we are aware that some holistic therapies often have their own non-standard qualifications. Please don't hesitate to contact either Julia or Kathryn at the Isbourne College in order to discuss your application further if you feel your particular qualification may fall outside of the above criteria.
Students should also have a reasonable command of English, Numeracy and IT.
Tutor: Karen Goodson
Karen brings together over 30 years of experience in personal development, coaching, mentoring and teaching within the community together with training in Hypno-Psychotherapy, NLP, teaching and learning and more recently holistic healing therapies: ThetaHealing®, Spiritual Counselling, Life Coaching and Soul Planning through the Holistic Healing College.
Her career path also incorporated community arts and crafts as tools for personal development with some of the most vulnerable groups in society. This led to becoming a tutor in adult and community education, specialising in careers’ advice and teaching English and Maths alongside personal development courses. She is currently teaching the Level 3 Award in Education and Training in Gloucestershire where she gained the Outstanding Tutor; Excellence in Teaching Award at this years Adult Learners Week Ceremony. She is excited to bring this Award to the Holistic community through the Isbourne College and Open College Network.
There is no formal exam for this qualification. You will be asked to keep a portfolio of evidence, including coursework assignments, reflective log entries and deliver a 15 minute micro teaching session to the rest of the group on an aspect of your therapeutic or healing modality. Each assessment will directly relate to your own work as an holistic therapist, so you will learn something, apply it in your own work and then reflect on what you have learnt.
This is a unique opportunity to learn about how to teach within your holistic area with other holistic practitioners with an holistic therapist tutor in an holistic college.
